DREAM: Driving Racial Equity in Aesthetic Medicine®

Partnering up with industry leaders Allergan Aesthetics and skinbetter science®, we created the latest component of this initiative: Forces of Beauty®.

This component aims to further EED&I education within the world of aesthetics and the beauty industry as a whole.

Representation matters.

FORCES OF BEAUTY®

The Forces of Beauty® report is a study sourced from approximately 4,000 women of various racial and ethnic backgrounds. In addition to valuable data, their voices lend firsthand narratives to the larger conversation around representation in beauty marketing.

This research provides aesthetics practitioners, media, and industry leaders insights to better understand the dynamic between beauty and racial identity for women within the United States.

Watch below how we turned this report into compelling videos that will help make the world of aesthetics more inclusive.

Defining Beauty

Eurocentric beauty standards exclude women of color. Taneal shares her experience of not only acknowledging her beauty, but celebrating it as a Black woman with pronounced skin conditions.

History of Beauty Standards

Society has long prized Eurocentric beauty standards, but the shifting face of America is changing that. Here, Mariah speaks to how that impacts her as a woman of Native American descent.

Appropriation

Beauty trends that originate with Black women often go uncredited. Kiyah speaks on appropriation, both from the perspective of a Black woman and a makeup artist.

Empowering Uniqueness

Beauty standards should not be defined by one entity. Ansa shares what she thinks authentic representation looks like, how we can achieve it, and how it positively impacts women of color.
